Context: The shiba-picture API from starter-project tutorials is unreachable (verified Sep 2026): its TLS certificate chain fails verification in default-config clients (curl: unable to get local issuer certificate), and even with verification disabled the request dies — HTTP/2 stream PROTOCOL_ERROR, and HTTP/1.1 gets no response either. No HTTP response survives on any path.

What we check: GET https://shibe.online/api/shibes?count=1 — a plain, keyless request from Cloudflare's network with an honest bot UA, exactly what a tutorial curl or an <img> tag experiences. OK = HTTP 2xx/3xx within 8s. No retries, no cookies, no API keys.
